Essential oils have been around for centuries and their use is still very popular in different areas around the world today. There are easily over 1,000 uses for these fragrant oils and an equal amount of benefits.

For many though, the use of essential oils usually raises various different questions. ‘Are they safe for children?’ ‘Does quality matter?’ ‘What if I have allergies?’ We have put together some frequently asked questions but feel free to contact us if you feel one is missing so we can expand our list.

1. Does the quality of the essential oils matter?

If you would like to reap the maximum benefits of using essential oils, then yes, the quality of the oils will determine how effective they are. While you want to be getting your money’s worth, buying cheap, inferior quality products will not give you the results you are aiming for. In the worst case, some of the cheap quality oils can even cause skin irritation as they will not always be pure. Always use a trusted and reputable supplier like Essential Oil Supplies for peace of mind.

2. Are they safe for children to use?

Essential oils are commonly used for medicinal purposes and you may be wondering if they can help your child. When a child or infant is unwell, essential oils can be mixed with a carrier such as coconut or vegetable oil and applied to their chest and back or on the soles of the feet. This can help with congestion, coughs and colds.

Not all essential oils will be suitable for children. This will depend on the pungency of the oil. You should always inquire on a per oil basis to assure the safety of your child. Some known child-friendly oils include bergamot, cedarwood, lemon and rosemary. We are always happy to discuss more safe options as this is only a short list.

3. If I have allergies, would Essential Oils be safe to use?

It is always recommended that people with known sensitive skin conditions consult their health practitioner before applying any oils to the skin. All essential oils are highly concentrated & therefore may cause hypersensitivity reactions. DoTerra Essential oils do not use synthetic ingredients which lessen the risk of adverse reactions.
